Mother ~ Wife ~ Healer
I find writing about myself challenging. Sharing my career highlights and accomplishments seems natural, but as I embrace the path before me, they are increasingly less important. I am sure I will cover it at some point, but as they say, you only know where you are going when you know where you came from.
My father's family is proudly Appalachain hailing from Eastern Kentucky. All jokes aside, (and trust me, there are a lot), the fundamental values of mountain folk can be marvelous. I am a fiercely protective mother of two young men who are proof that a single mom can indeed raise outstanding children. In my later years, I met and married the love of my life. He too benefits from both the stubborness born of Appalachian strife and the devotion that comes with it.
The stubbornly dedicated women in my life molded me into the three roles I now find most valuable. Mother. Wife. Healer. While some would argue their influence lays much heaveier in one area than another, collectively, they have brought me to to be the woman I am today.
I have never had a desire to be a nurse or doctor. Although the critical thinking acquired through years of being an engineer and schooling as such, has served me well in researching multitudes of illnesses and complimentary herbal medicines. This has allowed me to be an outstanding patient advocate for both of my parents as they age. In fact, their doctors have inquired on several occasions as to my medical background! All this to say, I am an interesting mixture of old-world healers and new-world education. I continuously study with energy and herbal healers whilst taking courses on human biology and anatomy. My focus on providing holistic healing is a never-ending journey.
To paraphrase Pericles, “What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.”
